Duties: Serve as Subject Matter Expert for logistics in area of geographic responsibility, providing leadership for all daily logistics related issues to manage expectations inherent in moving freight domestically and internationally. Work with foreign offices, customers, suppliers and service providers, including warehouse, ocean, drayage, and trucking providers to ensure that cargo is properly scheduled through all operational steps while upholding governmental compliance requirements. Coordinate and resolve all export cargo documentation issues related to the prompt and accurate release of cargo. Create commercial documents, submit, and review accuracy of negotiable bills of lading, associated health and other certification, to ensure proper release at shipment destination. Ensure payment to suppliers based on terms. Review trade terms to understand pricing guidelines and timelines for transportation. Capture all costs associated with a shipment including freight cost, detention charges, storage charges, surcharges, and demurrage. Route cargo in accordance with legal and customer requirements including cargo characteristics, transport mode, equipment type, service level, least cost, transit time, loading and offloading requirements. Determine most appropriate method for delivering documents to customers based on transportation method and transit times in order to align with trade terms. Align personal work process to new regulations and procedures impacting area of responsibility. Cultivate and manage relationships with service providers, government agency providers, and logistics providers to enable greater efficiencies and cost savings. Advise on new process or procedures to align with new regulations and procedures impacting area of responsibility. Conduct spot negotiations when appropriate with partners and suppliers while holding them accountable to provide timely and accurate service. Continuously review and analyze data and day-to-day process for opportunities to improve quality and service and propose improvement projects. Research and offer optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency. Proactively contact Sales teams in order to effectively prioritize and schedule work. Drive efficiency in working with Logistics Providers/Partners, balancing cost effectiveness, quality of the services provided and customer expectations. Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. No hire/fire authority.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade, International Transportation, International Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline plus at least three years of related experience. International trade and logistics experience are required, including familiarity with customs processes, incoterms, and international geographies. Experience with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Power Point, and Excel) and Internet Explorer are required. Must have experience with enterprise resource planning software including SAP. Must have international business experience, including logistics experience, with respect to international trade in China. Must have experience and demonstrated expertise in working with international trade in China.
