Interra Wins Exporter of the Year Award
On May 23, Deputy Commissioner Mary Waters of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) visited our Atlanta headquarters and presented Interra with the 2022 Exporter of the Year award. The Interra team gathered around as Deputy Commissioner Waters praised our group for our commitment to exporting and our success in shipping to destinations around the world. She presented CEO Steve Isaf with a beautiful crystal globe trophy and a special commendation from Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.
The Exporter of the Year award was quite an honor to receive. Looking back over 2021, our Interra team faced a myriad of challenges. Pandemic lockdowns happened in different countries at different times, causing bottlenecks at various points in the supply chain. Delays in production, lack of vessel space, lack of available ocean containers, and tight trucking and warehouse capacity, as well as employment issues at production facilities caused significant disruption in product availability. Freight costs saw incredible increases, often without much notice. However, we are used to challenges in exporting and part of what makes Interra great is our ability to tackle problems of any shape and size and still come out on top. While 2021 was not an easy year, the team worked together to overcome the obstacles and ultimately had a stellar year!

About the Award
According to the GDEcD, Exporters of the Year are selected based on how well their responses demonstrate the company’s commitment to exporting, as well as their most compelling export success story. One of the criteria for the award was to export to one new country of destination. Interra shipped to many new countries in 2021.
