Interra and The Classic Baseball Game – UGA vs GT
From the windows of Interra, you can see the new baseball SunTrust Park stadium, a magnificent architectural construction. We had the privilege of attending the 16th Annual Farmview Market Spring Classic Baseball Game between University of Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this past May 8th. Attendance was announced at 17,741, one of the largest in the annual game to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta since 2009.
The in-state rivals met for the annual Spring Baseball Classic for Kids to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, one of our many charities. Georgia has won nine of the last 10 meetings between the two schools. In the Spring Classic, which began at Turner Field, Georgia holds the advantage at 11-5.
The game, which used to be held at Turner Field, has attracted more than 19,000 fans annually and raised more than $200,000.
In 2017 through ticket sales, $257,852 were raised, which was used for funding patient and family initiatives in the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Their goal was $250,000. This year numbers have not been released yet.
The Diamond Dogs took down Georgia Tech 3-1, and with the win, the Georgia baseball team sweeps the Yellow Jackets one more time.
